An incredibly busy day today which began at 4.30am with taking Jay and Ticky to Doncaster Airport so they could be flown to Jersey to begin their new lives. The trip to Doncaster was notable for being diverted twice due to roads being flooded!!

Once back home we headed off to Cotgrave to pick up a new boy called Controller and then took him to the Boston kennels.

Bo's new owner came and picked her up and she went off to begin her new life in Leasingham. She was number 54 for the year and 529 in total.

A young couple from Lincoln who we home visited a few weeks ago came to walk some of our dogs although they were unable to take one for 3 weeks.

We were then visited by couple from Dorrington who already have one greyhound from us as well as a cat and they walked Jill and Buzz before deciding to take on Buzz as their second dog so he became 55 for the year and 530 in total.

After all this we then went to do a home visit in Shouldham, near Kings Lynn to a couple who had recently had their pet greyhound put to sleep. The couple rang back and are coming to kennels tomorrow to meet Charlie with a view to taking him on as a pet.

Jay from our Lincoln foster home also came to us today and will be going with Ticky tomorrow morning to start a new life in Jersey.

This morning we picked up a pretty Brindle girl called Lizzie and she went to our Boston kennels.

Charlie was taken from our home to the vet in Holbeach for his castration, vaccination and microchip. He then went on to the Boston kennels to recuperate.

Beauty was taken by her new owners from Grantham this morning and she is number 52 for the year and 327 in total.

A relatively quiet day although we did do one home visit to a couple in Welton who rang back later in the evening and are keen to go ahead so will visit Gainsborough kennels this weekend.

Charlie was transported back to our house in Lincoln before going to vets tomorrow then onto kennels near Boston.

The plan today was to cat test a number of our greyhounds to see whether they may be suitable to live in homes with cats or small dogs. Unfortunately the cattery where we do the testing was waterlogged so it has been postponed for the time being.

A new dog Charlie was brought to our Gainsborough kennel, but will be moved on to our house tomorrow then onto Boston kennels on Thursday.

At Boston, Buzz, Gordon and Kathy were wormed while Beauty, Birdie, Luke, Merv and Sarah all had their frontline flea treatment.

We also did two home visits to prospective owners in Lincoln so will wait to see whether they come back to us to say they'd like to go ahead.

No real news to report today apart from it's very wet here in 'sunny Lincolnshire' and the paddocks at the kennels at both Boston and Gainsborough are very wet!!!!

Boris from our Gainsborough kennel was featured in the Beehive section in today's Lincolnshire Echo.

The group did a meet and greet at Morrisons in Lincoln today and collected £135.94. Greyhounds Bob, Dora, Henry, Katie, Lizzie, Polly, Rosie and Sasha were there accompanied by Andy, Brian, Carol, Jill, Julie, Mandy and Tim.

The future new owners of Birdie and Bo came to the Boston kennels today to meet, walk and generally fuss their future pets.

Today we did a home visit in Spalding with lady who has a cat.

We then went to collect 'some' items from a lady who had some bits for us. It turned out these bits included around 100 teddies, 100 videos and hundreds of CD's.

The couple who are taking Beauty on Thursday came to kennels to walk and fuss her.

In the afternoon we went to one of our greyhound walks which took place on Mablethorpe beach at 3pm. Unfortunately at 2.55pm the heavens opened and owners and dogs were soaked. Around 20 dogs attended which considering the very 'unsummery' weather was not a bad turn out.

Debbie Paisnel from the excellent Jersey Greyhound Supporters rehoming group (see their website @ http://www.freewebs.com/jerseygreyhounds/ ) confirmed that the new owners of Jay and Ticky were both keen to go ahead as planned so they would be flying over next Saturday morning 30th June.

Tonight's lottery winner was number 553 John Smerdon from Lincoln who wins our weekly prize of £118.80. We are still short of a few members of our lottery which costs just £1 per week.

Today Danky from our Gainsborough kennels went to a new home in Walkeringham with another greyhound and cats. She has been renamed Eliza.

She became our 51st successful rehoming of the year and the 526th in total.

We received £912 as profit from the recently held Marton Dog Show run by Sharon Lake and helpers. On behalf of all at LGT we'd like to say a big thank you to Sharon, Kev, Jane and all the other helpers.
